Christopher Ford and family.
Christopher Ford, Democrat, from Poteau announced his bid for Oklahoma State Senate with the following statement.
Dear Citizens of District 4, I would like to formally announce my candidacy for the position of District 4 Oklahoma State Senator.
My name is Christopher Ford. No matter where you’re from in our district we’ve all seen the ups and downs when it comes to Oklahoma politics. For me personally I was raised right here in District 4. I have spent my adult life in public service and I believe there is no better calling.
I grew up in Poteau and graduated high school in 1998. My wife Heather and I have lived and raised our family in this part of the state. Currently I am a school teacher in Poteau and she is the office administrator for the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office and 911. Together we have four children.
I spent ten years as a police officer and in 2006 was elected as the Sheriff of Latimer County. I served more than eleven years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and Infantry. As a veteran I am proud to have served my country and this great state. In 2011 I began my teaching career in Poteau and am proud to have spent my time leading and mentoring students.
As a proud Oklahoman I’ve watched as senseless spending and vile politics have stunted the growth and prosperity of our state. As your public servant I would like to stop pointing fingers and start using common sense to rebuild our infrastructure, help small business, and restore funding to our crucial state services and education. I want to champion the voice of the people of our district and our state. Humbly I ask for your consideration in the upcoming primary election and I look forward to meeting you on the campaign trail.
