Eric Paslay will take the Diamond Daze Stage on June 9.
Members of the Salllisaw Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for the 2018 Diamond Daze Festival which will be take place June 7 through 9 at the Sallisaw High School Campus.
This annual family event includes arts & crafts, pony rides, helicopter rides, a 5K run, high steaks grilling contest, car show, food vendors, games and rides on the carnival midway and entertainment nightly on the Diamond Daze Stage.
The three day festival opens on Thursday night at 6 p.m. with Family Fun Night. The entry fee will be $5 per car load and will also be armband night where you can ride all of the rides for one low price.
Thursday night is also The Mix 105.1 Battle of the Bands. Bands will compete for cash prizes or for the grand prize, the opportunity to be the warm up band for the main act on Friday night. The Battle of the Bands begins at 7 p.m. so come out and cheer on your favorite local group.
Friday night will feature popular Red Dirt artist, Stoney Larue. Larue is well known for favorites such as, “Feet Don’t Touch the Ground” and “Oklahoma Breakdown.” The winner of Thursday night’s Mix 105.1 Battle of the Bands will be the opening act for Larue.
On Saturday night one of Nashville’s best singer/songwriters, Eric Paslay, will close out the festival. Paslay’s hits include, “Song About a Girl”, “Friday Night”, “She Don’t Love You”, and “High Class”.
Opening for Paslay will be a local band from Roland, Lyle Parman and the Slide Bar Band. Lyle Parman has a local following and is well known for playing on the casino circuit.
Entertainment on Friday and Saturday begins at 7:30 p.m.
A limited number of pit passes will be available at the chamber office at 301 E. Cherokee for Friday and Saturday night’s entertainment for an additional $10. Passes will go on sale sometime after May 7.
Admission for Friday and Saturday is $10 per person (13 and up) with a $5 per carload special until 5 pm on Saturday. Entrance is general admission and payable at the gate.
Other events going on during the festival include a car show and High Steaks Rollin’ Contest.
The Diamond Daze Car Show is sponsored by Chandler Collision Center, Palmer Power Motorsports and Ampco Electric. The show will award cash prizes in over 30 classes with first and second place awards presented. Registration will be 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The show will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday with prizes awarded at 3 p.m.
Entry forms for Saturday’s High Steaks Rollin’ contest are now available at the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce office. The entry fee is $130. Chamber Director Judy Martens stated that the contest is not sanctioned this year which opens the contest up to more participants and more local contestants.
Multiple prizes and ribbons will be awarded in the High Steaks Rollin’ contest including the 1st place prize of $750.
Applications are also available at the chamber office for specialty vendors although all food vendor spots are full.
