Muldrow Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Train


The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported an unidentified pedestrian was killed by a train at 11:22 a.m. Thursday.

The pedestrian was struck on East 1100 Road and Gibbons Lane in Muldrow.

The OHP reported the name of the victim is unknown at this time, and the incident is still under investigation. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustain in the incident.

The pedestrian was struck by a Union Pacific Train, with two engines and 90 cars, operated by Brian Williams, 44, of Van Buren. Williams was not injured. A passenger, Ricky Bangs, 59, also of Van Buren, was not injured.

The OHP reported the pedestrian was walking west on the tracks, and the train was also traveling west. The engineer saw the pedestrian and blew the horn several times to alert the pedestrian. The pedestrian acknowledged the train but did not step off of the tracks. Pedestrian was thrown from the tracks to the south.
