Juvenile Chase Suspect Released to Parents

A 16-year-old male, who crashed a reported stolen pickup truck into a Sallisaw light pole Thursday afternoon, was released into his mother’s custody Thursday evening, Muldrow Police Chief George Lawson reported.

Lawson said, “There was no place to put him, so he was released into his parents’ custody.”

Lawson reported that the chase began in Muldrow when Muldrow Officer Chad Walters spotted the green pickup truck that had been reported stolen in Arkansas.

“Officer Walters tried to stop the vehicle, which looked at first like it was going to pull over, but then he took off,” Lawson said.

The pursuit ended in Sallisaw when the vehicle hit an electric pole.

A juvenile male who was driving the vehicle was taken into custody, but the 18-year-old female who was a passenger in the truck, was not, Lawson reported.

Lawson said he expected a felony arrest warrant for the juvenile male would be issued in Arkansas because of the stolen pickup truck.
