OSU’s Jesse Martin to Speak at Banquet

The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the annual Awards Banquet to be held Feb. 17 in the Sallisaw Middle School Commons Area.

The chamber is celebrating the 70th anniversary!

Social time begins at 6 p.m. and the banquet begins at 6:30.

Judy Martens, chamber executive officer, said, “We are proud to have Jesse Martin from OSU as our keynote speaker for the event. Since his arrival in 2006, Jesse Martin has served in various capacities for OSU Athletics.”

After beginning his stint as OSU associate ticket manager, Martin was promoted to assistant athletics director for development. He currently serves as OSU’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs and Sport Administrator for Softball.

Since 2009, Martin has been a sports marketing lecturer for the Spears School of Business.

Prior to joining the Cowboys, Martin was in his fifth season with the Mississippi Sea Wolves professional hockey team of the ECHL, before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast causing the team to go dormant.

Named the eighth general manager in team history, Martin also served for three seasons as the team's assistant general manager. During his tenure with the Sea Wolves, he was selected as the 2004 ECHL Ticket Executive of the Year.

A native of Madison, Kan., Martin received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan., before completing an internship with Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando, Fla.

Jesse and his wife, Ashleigh, who is from Biloxi, Miss., reside in Stillwater with their daughter, Mackenzie, and sons, Maddox and Miles.

The banquet is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased for $40 each by the Feb. 9 deadline.
