Formal charges have not yet been filed against Jessie Mosby, arrested for allegedly shooting his mother on March 2. Mosby, 36, was arrested March 3 by Sallisaw police after the body of his mother, Karen Gregg, was found slumped in her car late March 2 on West Ruth Street in Sallisaw. It appeared she had been shot once in the head. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) assisted the Sallisaw police with the investigation, and reported after finding a used cartridge shell at the scene and footprints, Mosby was brought in for questioning, and later arrested for first degree murder. First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp said he received the investigation reports Wednesday afternoon, and anticipates filing first-degree murder charges against Mosby early next week. Thorp said he has not yet received the medical examiner's report, which usually takes five to seven weeks, but other reports indicate Gregg died from a gunshot wound to the head. Thorp said Mosby will most likely make his initial court appearance March 18 in district court.
