Christian Mayberry
Christian Mayberry of Muldrow never expected his life to be the focus of a movie, but that’s just what happened.
After a 2013 ATV accident left him with a traumatic brain injury at age 16, Mayberry’s heroic and inspirational road to recovery has led to a documentary whose trailer has been nominated for an award at the upcoming International Christian Film & Music Festival.
The festival will be from May 19-22 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort in Florida.
The film is the work of producer, director and Ada, Oklahoma native Jered Allen, who has been documenting Mayberry’s progress since 2015. Though the film is still unfinished, Christian’s mom, Kim Mayberry, said Tuesday that she hopes the movie gains an even wider audience.
“I believe good things will come from this,” she said. “Christian films are really popular right now.”
Christian has always said that since he went to Heaven after the accident, the Lord told him he would “bring thousands to Christ,” but with the upcoming documentary and the possibility of wider release, Christian now says, “What if I can reach millions?”
Allen is expected to be back in the Muldrow area in June to do some final filming, Kim Mayberry said.
Kim Mayberry said she and Christian are really looking forward to traveling to Orlando for the festival in May. “It’s going to be a wonderful time!”
