A Saturday morning car accident left two Sequoyah County residents injured, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Cort Cordell, 47, of Sallisaw and Jenifer Bowman, 35, of Muldrow were both hospitalized.
The accident occurred at 8:07 a.m. Saturday on County Road 4680, about a mile north and half a mile west of Gans.
According to the OHP report, Cordell was eastbound on U.S. Highway 64 when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the centerline and struck Bowman’s vehicle head-on.
Bowman was transported by Life Flight to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville where she was admitted in stable condition with head, trunk, arm and leg injuries.
Cordell was transported to Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith. According to his wife he suffered head injuries, a broken hip, broken foot and several fractured ribs. He also had damage to his right arm.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles for about an hour. They were extricated by members of the Sallisaw, Muldrow and Gans fire department.
