A Gore woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident Friday afternoon. The accident occurred approximately ten miles south of Tahlequah.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, Betty Wells, 78, was traveling southbound on County Road 510/Indian Road at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The 2006 Ford Focus, driven by Wells, departed the roadway to the right overturning an undetermined number of times.
Wells was transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah where she was pronounced.
The OHP was assisted at the scene by Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Cherokee Nation EMS and Keys Fire Department.
