Two Injured in Saturday Crash

A Cookson woman and a Tahlequah man were both reported hospitalized in stable conditions following a one-vehicle crash at 11:47 a.m. Saturday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Cathrine Weatherford, 36, of Cookson and Randall Scott, 30, of Tahlequah, were both transported by Life Flight to St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa. Weatherford was reported to have internal trunk, arm and leg injuries. Scott was reported to have internal trunk and arm injuries. Both were admitted.

The OHP reported Weatherford was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo north on State Highway 82 and was approaching a left curve when she ran off the road to the left and struck a ditch. The car rolled two times before coming to rest on its wheels. Weatherford was thrown about 20 feet from the vehicle. The passenger, Scott, was pinned in the vehicle for about 10 minutes and freed by firefighters with the Cookson and Keys Fire Departments.

The OHP reported the cause of the crash was an unsafe seed for the wet road. The crash was two-tenths of a mile north of Oak Ridge Road, 10.6 miles south of Tahlequah in Cherokee County.
