Bennett Will Seek Re-election

State Rep. John Bennett (R - Sallisaw) has announced his bid for re-election for State House District 2, which is in Sequoyah County.

"I have been honored to serve the people of District 2 since 2010," said Bennett. "And I am proud to announce that I am seeking an additional term representing the people of Sequoyah County."

When asked what his priorities will be if re-elected in 2016, Bennett said, "In the short five years I have been in the Oklahoma legislature I have been able to secure funding to fix our roads and bridges that have been neglected for many years. However, there is more work to be done and I will continue to fight to improve all of our infrastructure in Sequoyah County."

Bennett also discussed his continued work to help Oklahoma's military veterans. "Due to the many great laws passed, we have made Oklahoma one of the most veteran-friendly states in the United States," said Bennett. "And I will continue to fight to improve our veterans’ services across the state."

Bennett talked about his office in Sallisaw on Oak Street, just north of the movie theater.

"I opened a Legislative office right here in Sallisaw several years ago to provide a place for the people of District 2 to visit with me and let me know how they feel about legislation and other state issues," said Bennett. "It has allowed a place for the people to stay in touch with their state officials and get vital work done."

Bennett concluded, "The people of Sequoyah County have been my only ‘special interest group’ as I have fought for our rural Oklahoma values these past six years in the Oklahoma Legislature. I have fought for our Christian beliefs, protecting our new born, and preserving our second amendment rights and I humbly ask for your vote this November to continue fighting for the people of Sequoyah County and District 2 as your State Representative.”

John and his wife, Nicole, live in Sallisaw and have five children and two grandchildren. They are active members of Muldrow Assembly of God.
