An 80-year-old Spiro man was found dead on Lake Tenkiller near Chicken Creek Saturday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Glenn A. Vaughn was last seen at 1:46 p.m. in a 16-and-a-half foot Glasstream Fast Boat near the shoreline, throwing an anchor into the water. About 20 minutes later Vaughn was no longer seen in the boat. Witnesses said the boat had no occupants and they went toward the boat. They then saw Vaughn in the water about 40 yards away. They pulled the victim into their boat and attempted CPR.
Vaughn was pronounced dead on the scene by Cherokee Nation EMS and his body was transported to the Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah.
The OHP Marine Enforcement Division was assisted by the Chicken Creek Fire Department and the Cherokee Nation EMS.
