The Sallisaw Police Department would like to inform citizens of a current scam in our area.
According to the police dept. a Sallisaw resident recently received a piece of mail from the Judging Office & Decision Center out of Kansas City, Kan., and enclosed was an explanation letter of his possible winnings and how to collect. He was informed that he only had to send cash, check, or money order for $12.99 or $15.99 for express mail. The letter then went on disclosing that they would need his banking numbers to transfer the funds over time.
"We cannot stress enough that if you are winning money no one should be asking for you to send your personal information or a check to receive it. Be cautious of scams," stated an official with the Sallisaw Police Dept.
