The Mix 105.1 and Cpl. Joshua J. Ware Marine Corps Detachment 1403 are partnering to raise money for the detachment’s Toys for Tots campaign.
From 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 13 tethered hot air balloon rides will be offered for $10 each at the radio station at 333 S. Kerr Blvd. in Sallisaw.
Darren Girdner of KXMX said this particular balloon has a special feature that allows handicapped individuals to go up for a ride. “They use a European basket,” he explained. “The basket has an entry that allows wheelchairs into the basket.” As an extra safety measure, the operator has a special harness which secures wheelchairs safely, Girdner added.

Radio personnel will be on hand to help with parking and the balloon ride schedule.
“Let’s all climb aboard and help the Marine Corps detachment make Christmas happier for children in our area,” Girdner encouraged.
