Two Men Hospitalized Following Crash

Two men were hospitalized following a crash at about 8:05 a.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 40, one mile west of Vian at Mile Marker 296.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported James Gilliland, 42, of Bartlesville, and Billy Gebhart, 74, of Fairland were both transported to area hospitals. Gilliland, the driver, was listed in stable condition with arm, leg and head injuries. He was flown by Med Flight to St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa. Gebhart, a passenger in the 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck, was taken by Pafford EMS to a Muskogee hospital and admitted in stable condition with arm and head injuries.

The OHP reported Gilliland was pulling a trailer westbound on I40, when he departed the roadway left into the median, came back on the roadway, departed the roadway to the right, jack-knifed, overturned and came to rest on the north side of the road.

The OHP reported the Vian Fire Department helped extricate Gebhart from the vehicle.
