A Conway, Ark., couple was arrested Sept. 3 in Sallisaw and now face drug charges in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw.
Jacob Charles Denny, 31, and Dorothy Mae Denny, 31, were arrested by Sallisaw police at about 5 a.m. Sept. 3 on Kerr Boulevard after a traffic stop for an incorrect lane change and inoperable brake light.
Noticing both Dennys were nervous, the police officer, according to the report filed with the charges, asked if they had anything illegal in the vehicle. Jacob Denny told the officer he had “more than a little” and a firearm. The officer found the loaded firearm in the vehicle’s glove compartment and a large amount of marijuana and THC in plastic bags.
Both Dennys were arrested and charged Sept. 5 in district court. Jacob Denny was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. He is being held on a $20,000 bond. Dorothy Denny was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. She is being held on a $10,000 bond. Both are expected to be arraigned Wednesday in district court.
