The Pervasive Parenting Center is sponsoring a Teacher of the Year Award and Paraprofessional of the Year Award.
A teacher and paraprofessional will be selected from each county in the center’s coverage area including LeFlore, Haskell, and Sequoyah counties.
“This is our second year to do this award. It’s one of our favorite events. We know that the people who spend each day trying to make a better life for our children are deserving of recognition. This is just a small way to bring light to the hard work and dedication that they give,” said Kodey Toney, Pervasive Parenting Center director.
Each professional can be nominated by filling out a form located on the center’s website at www.pervasiveparentingcenter.org, or requesting a form by email at ktoney@pervasive parentingcenter.org. The form requests information on the nominee as well as a description of why the person is deserving of the award in less than 300 words.
The teacher can be any educator that has direct contact with children with disabilities that shows outstanding effort in helping make that child or other children’s education and life a better experience.
“We have so many great teachers, special education teachers, and paraprofessionals that go above and beyond to help children,” said Toney. “They just seem to get it. They understand that some children are extraordinary and just need a little extra care.”
The winner will receive a plaque and a prize.
The deadline for applications is May 1. The winners will be announced May 6.
