Marilyn Craghead, George Glenn
Sallisaw businessman and former mayor George Glenn came to Sallisaw with the telephone company but soon found out he had no window in his new office and sought other employment.
He went to work as the guide for the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and soon realized that being in business was good.
That’s when he went to work selling Shelter Insurance. On Tuesday, George Glenn celebrated 45 years in business in Sallisaw. His right-hand assistant, Marilyn Craghead, was also honored for her 43 years working by his side. She said, “I have a good boss and I love working with people, being around people.”
Glenn laughed when he recalled how he had no window in the telephone building but noted it was good because it sent him into other areas. Those areas included 45 years serving the citizens of Sequoyah County and serving for 25 years as Sallisaw’s mayor.
Cake and refreshments were served at the reception Tuesday, which was attended by most of the Sallisaw business community and Glenn’s customers.
