Firefighters with the Central and Maple Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of a fire that destroyed the home of the Glen McCawley family Monday afternoon.
Rodney Smith, Central assistant fire chief, said the fire department was dispatched at 1:53 p.m. Monday and found the home fully engulfed when they arrived.
“The fire was through the roof when we arrived,” Smith said. “The home was a total loss.”
Smith said no one was injured as a result of the fire but the family lost everything.
“We had the fire knocked down in 30 minutes after arriving,” Smith said. Firefighters were still putting out hot spots in the building at 4 p.m. Smith said 15 firefighters from the Central and Maple Fire Departments fought the blaze.
The cause of the fire is unknown, Smith said.
