The Sallisaw Police Department and FOP hope to expand the annual Nightmare on Elm Street this year and are seeking volunteers to help.
Sarah Roberts with the Sallisaw Police Department is asking for volunteers. She explained, "We want to do the trick-or-treating as in previous years. However this year we want to block off additional room for a mini-carnival with activities for the children as well, if we can get enough donations, vendors and volunteers."
Roberts said the carnival would include games such as a bean bag toss, face painting, and other activities. The trick-or-treating would be as usual on Elm Street and the carnival would be on Chickasaw. Both will run from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, which is a Saturday this year.
"We want to make a safe and fun place for the kids," Roberts said.
Anyone who would like to volunteer or would like more information may contact Roberts at 918-775-4177.
