One man is in custody after stealing a Spiro police vehicle and leading several Arkansas and Oklahoma police officers on a chase that ended near Muldrow.
According to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart the unidentified male stole a Spiro police vehicle after allegedly discovering that the keys had been left in the vehicle. The vehicle was spotted by an Arkansas State police officer traveling west in the east bound lane of Interstate 40 with the police vehicle lights flashing. At approximately 2 a.m. the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept. was notified by the Arkansas State Police that the vehicle was crossing into Oklahoma.
The vehicle was stopped just west of the Muldrow exit by Muldrow police. The suspect was transported to the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept. where he is being questioned by Spiro Police officers.
