Vicki Sawney will be sworn into office as Sallisaw's Ward 4 City Commissioner at 6 p.m. Monday, at the beginning of the regular city commission meeting. A reception will welcome her to the commission board at 5:30 p.m. in the Sallisaw Civic Center. Sawney was chosen by the commissioners from three nominations for the Ward 4 post. That seat was vacated when the previous holder, Julie Ferguson, won her bid for the mayor's seat earlier this year. Sawney previously served as the Sequoyah County Clerk before losing that post in a county election. Stay tuned to KXMX for the latest news, or visit www.kxmx.com.
