Sallisaw's Sirens Set Off by Wiring Problem

A wiring problem caused Sallisaw's tornado sirens to sound off at about 6 p.m. Monday, although no tornado had been spotted. City Manager Bill Baker reported to Sallisaw City Commissioners at their meeting Monday evening that the sirens sounded in error when a rural fire department was dispatched. Unfortunately, the sirens sounded during a severe thunderstorm, which sent some Sallisaw residents to their tornado shelters.
