On Thursday afternoon mowing crews spotted a body on the north side of Interstate 40 east of the Muskogee exit. Officials roped off the north side of I-40 in this area for a period of time Thursday afternoon while investigating the scene.
The identity of the victim is not know at this time. Authorities stated that the body is a male individual who appears to have a gunshot wound to the chest area. According to officials the body was badly decomposed.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Webbers Falls Police, and the state medical examiner are currently working the case. The body has been transported to the state medical examiner's office.
