Sallisaw Man in Critical Condition

A 19-year-old Sallisaw man was listed in critical condition Thursday at a Fort Smith hospital after a crash on U.S. Highway 64 east of Sallisaw.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Tristean Simmons, 19, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup west at about 5:57 a.m. when he ran off the road to the left. He then drove back onto the road and over corrected to the left, causing the truck to overturn one and a quarter times. The truck came to rest on the driver's side. Sallisaw Fire Department personnel had to cut Simmons from the truck with the Jaws of Life.

Simmons was transported to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith by Pafford EMS. He was listed in critical condition with a head injury, the OHP reported.
