The Sallisaw Lions Club presented a check to Sallisaw Eastside PTO members at this weekend's Lions Club Rodeo. During the 2013-14 school year PTO members worked to raise money for new playground equipment hoping to have it purchased and installed before the 2014-15 school year began. Unfortunately they fell short of the amount needed by $12,000. According to PTO member Amanda Sullivan, after their need was presented to the Sallisaw Lions Club they didn't hesitate to help them reach their goal amount. The Lions Club also played an instrumental part in helping raise funds for the playground equipment recently purchased and installed for the Liberty Elementary playground. Several Lions Club members were present every day with PTO members, school personnel and parent volunteers working hard during the installation process. "Once made aware of the need for new playground equipment at the Eastside Elementary campus they continued on with their dedication to the children of the Sallisaw community and offered to assist both monetarily and with hands-on volunteering," stated Sullivan.
