Gas Pipe Capped After Crash

A single-vehicle crash at about 10 a.m. Thursday at the corner of Creek Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Sallisaw had both the Sallisaw police and firefighters worried about a gas leak, but gas to that pipe had already been shut off, officials said. The 80-year-old Sallisaw woman driving the car may have hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, which caused the crash and damage to the gas line, they said. But no gas was detected. AOG technicians arrived shortly afterward and capped off the pipe to make sure there was no leak.
