Crash Sends Toll Taker and Driver to Hospital

A crash on the Muskogee Turnpike shortly after midnight on Thursday morning was possibly the result of driver impairment due to alcohol, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. The crash occurred on the southbound side at mile marker 41 south. The 55-year-old driver, from Broken Arrow, whose name has been withheld by the OHP, drove his 2006 Ford van at a high rate of speed into the southbound toll booth. The toll taker, Gail Estep, 59, of Oktaha was transported by Life-Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with head, leg, arm and internal and external injuries. She was admitted in stable condition. The van driver was transported by EMS to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa with head, leg, arm and internal and external injuries. He was admitted and listed in stable condition.
