Vian Farmers Market to Open March 6

Vian Mayor Dennis Fletcher said last week that a farmers market will open up in downtown Vian at Anna Bell Farmer Park on Saturday, March 6.

Fletcher said the town already has a resolution to hold the farmers market on the east side of the park, but officials are modifying it to have the market all along Main Street in front of the park so there will be “more room to display and distribute their goods.”

Kialey Wainwright, who will be overseeing the monthly event, said Thursday that she has always loved farmers markets and she felt like Vian needed one because there are “tons of people” in the area who make all kinds of crafts and food products who deserve to have their wares on display to the public.

The market will be from 7 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of the month, Wainwright said, and if all goes well, she plans on moving the event to twice a month.

Wainwright said COVID-19 restrictions will be in place at the market, including the wearing of masks and maintaining 6-foot distances. Participants will also have to sign a waiver.

Wainwright said she already has 6-7 vendors signed up for the farmers market and anyone interested in joining in can call her at (918) 360-4385.
