There are signs of activity at the site of the future veterans’ facility in Sallisaw, with equipment being unloaded this week, Mayor Ernie Martens said at the Board of City Commissioners’ monthly meeting Monday.
Keith Skelton echoed Martens’ remarks, adding that all of the facility’s construction agreements have now been signed as well.
The commissioners also approved the final inspection of Phase 1 of the wastewater treatment plant improvements project. Skelton said “everyone was happy” with how the project turned out, from the workers down to the inspectors.
During the meeting, the panel entered into executive session to discuss the potential purchase of an unidentified property. No further information followed the closed-door session.
In other business, the commissioners also approved the reinvestment of temporarily idle funds, including the Sallisaw Reserve certificate of deposit with Armstrong Bank for 182 days at one-half of 1 percent and the Cemetery Fund certificate of deposit with Armstrong Bank for 182 days at one-half of 1 percent.
