Man Charged After Bringing Contraband Into Jail

A Vian man was charged Dec. 9 with bringing contraband into a jail facility, records show.

Lance Austin Robinson, 20, faces up to five years in the State Penitentiary, a fine of up to $1,000 or both on the felony charge.

At 9:35 p.m. on Dec. 9, Judge Kyle Waters called the jail operations manager in reference to two males, Robinson and another man, who needed to be taken into custody after the judge had revoked their bond.

The men were placed in hand restraints and escorted to the detention center. Before entering the jail, the operations manager asked them if they had anything illegal on them. Both stated that they did not.

Once they arrived in the booking area, the men were searched. A clear plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance was pulled from Robinson’s jacket pocket.
