Vian Man Tased When Fleeing from Deputy

Shawn Lloyd Hinckley, 39, of Vian was charged Dec. 18 in Sequoyah County District Court, Sallisaw, with failure to comply with sex offender registration and resisting an officer, both felonies.

Hinckley pleaded not guilty to the charges on Dec. 19, and his next court appearance is slated for Feb. 6 on the felony disposition docket.

According to the deputy’s report, filed with the charges, he was sent to investigate Hinckley’s place of residence on Dec. 12. The deputy said he found Hinckley at 1010 Eppler St.

The deputy reported Hinckley became upset when told he was being arrested for non-compliance with the sex offender registration, and he resisted arrest. The deputy reports Hinckley broke away from him and ran for about 50 yards before the deputy was able to stop him by using a Taser.
