A few voters went to the polls Tuesday to determine if AOG franchises should continue in Sallisaw and Muldrow. Voters in both communities approved the franchises.
AOG has franchise agreements with Sallisaw and Muldrow which they hoped to renew, but the agreements must be approved by voters. The franchise is non-exclusive, meaning any other gas company can set up business in the city. AOG paid the election expense.
In Sallisaw 61 voters approved the franchise and six voted no. According to the Sequoyah County Election Board that is a 91.67 percent for yes to 8.33 percent for no.
In Muldrow, 17 voters approved the franchise, or 85 percent, and three voted no, or 15 percent.
