The
statewide candidate filing period begins at 8 a.m. April 13, said Cindy Osborn,
Sequoyah County Election Board secretary.
Filing
will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The deadline
for filing as a candidate is 5 p.m. April 15, no exceptions Osborn said.
Candidates
for state offices file with the secretary of the State Election Board in
Oklahoma City. Candidates for county offices file with the Secretary of the
County Election Board in Sallisaw.
Osborn
said that the following county offices will be filled this year:
-United
States Senator (6-year term)
-United
States Representative District No. 2 (2-year term)
-State
Representative District No. 15 (2-year term)
-Court
Clerk (4-year term)
-County
Clerk (4-year term)
-County
Sheriff (4-year term)
-County
Commissioner District No. 2 (4-year term)
-Special
Fire District No. 1-Position No. 2 (5-year term)
The
statewide primary election will be on June 28. If needed, the runoff primary
election will be held Aug. 23.
The
general election will be on Nov. 8.
