Several law enforcement agencies gathered recently at the Sequoyah County Courthouse to set up a Remembrance Tree.
Cindy Smith with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office explained, “A Remembrance Tree is in honor of those people who lost their lives to violence in Sequoyah County. This is so they can be honored and remembered. We love the families to hang their own ornaments, and they keep them from year to year.”
This is the fourth year for the Remembrance Tree in Sequoyah County.
Staff with the Sequoyah County District Attorney’s Office, the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Team, the Sallisaw Special Victims Unit and the Sequoyah County Child Abuse Task Force attended the reception held from 2 to 4 Friday.
