A 22-year-man was charged Monday in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with domestic assault and battery by strangulation after he allegedly tried to choke his teenage brother.
The arresting officer reported not only was Ryan Wayne Waltermire arrested for assault and battery but also on an outstanding warrant for second-degree burglary and malicious injury to property.
The officer reported he was dispatched to the rural Sallisaw home on Nov. 21 after the younger brother called the sheriff’s office to report the incident. Ryan Waltermire was not at home at the time but returned later and was taken into custody and booked into the county jail without incident. According to the report the teenage brother told investigators that he and Ryan Wayne Waltermire got into an argument over Ryan Waltermire slapping their younger brother.
