The Sallisaw Youth Sports Complex is expected to be complete by the first of the year, and ready to “Play Ball!” by March when the youth league baseball and softball programs start their seasons.
Todd Martin (above), with the youth league, gave Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce members a tour of the sports complex on Sallisaw’s east side last week.
Martin said four baseball fields and four softball fields, arranged in a quad pattern around a central concession area, are nearing completion.
He said Wednesday, “They are putting in a sprinkler system on the last softball field and then they will be sodding and it will be done.”
Martin said the project took a few months longer than planned due to the unusual amount of rain in the area and because one sub-contractor had to be replaced.
In the meantime the youth league is selling advertising. Martin said advertising will be hung on the ballfield fences and names for the fields are also available.
For more information about the advertising contact Martin at 918-315-2233.
