Gans Students Welcomed in Remodeled Gym

Gans school students began classes Wednesday and were welcomed to the 2015-16 school year at an assembly held in the newly remodeled gym.

"The students really liked it," School Superintendent Larry Calloway said, and "The coaches are really happy. Now all I have to do is figure out how to air condition it. But it's good in the winter."

Calloway said the remodel was a summer-long project that cost about $36,000, paid for from the school's building fund. Contractors and some of the coaches, janitorial staff and others were hired to do the work. The remodel included a new floor, paint and tile. Dean Armstrong is the boys' varsity coach and Tanner Ryan is the girls' varsity coach.

The remodel gym, Calloway said, "Turned out really nice,"

Calloway said on Wednesday that enrollment appeared to be up at Gans School. "We've got a lot of new kids," he said. "I have to wait to the end of the day to see the enrollment. It feels crowded and that's a good thing."

He added that Gans students began school a day early because they will be dismissed one day early for their Christmas break.
