Cookson Woman Hurt in Tuesday Crash

A woman from Cookson was hospitalized Tuesday after a crash at 11:22 a.m. on U.S. Highway 62, eight and six-tenths miles west of Tahlequah in Cherokee County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Kristina Sparks, 48, of Cookson was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer west when the vehicle ran off the road to the left, then re-entered the road and overturned one time, coming to a stop on its wheels. 

The OHP reported Kristina Sparks was pinned for a short time before she was freed by Woodall Fire and Rescue using spreaders. She was transported by Eaglemed to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa where she was admitted with head and leg injuries, and was listed in stable condition.

Robert Sparks, 51, a passenger, of Cookson was transported by Cherokee Nation EMS to Tahlequah City Hospital where he was treated and released.
