Winter looms, and arrives Dec. 21, and forecasters predict colder temperatures for the upcoming week. It will be a good time to curl up under a blanket in front of a heater to enjoy the holiday. But some don't have a blanket, and some don't have a heater. MaryLynn Lufkin, coordinator at the Catholic Charities Helping Center in Sallisaw, said the center is still in need of blankets and heaters, and new coats and old coats in good condition. The center was able to provide cold-weather necessities last month through the generosity of local clubs and individuals, but the need continues. Donations are badly needed she said. Donated items may be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the back door of the Helping Center at 409 N. Adams in Sallisaw. The phone number is 918-775-6111.
