Gray Surrenders, Is Free on Bond


Joey B. Gray, 19, who is charged with conspiracy in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw, surrendered to authorities Tuesday, and is free on a $2,500 bond.

Gray’s charge relates to the incident on Sept. 1, 2013, that left a young man, Christian Mayberry, with severe brain trauma. Joey Gray is accused of helping clean up the ATV crash scene where Mayberry was injured south of Muldrow. Kyle L. Bannon, 20, of Muldrow faces the same charge in relation to the same incident.

Gray’s mother, Angela Gay, 40, of Muldrow is charged with conspiracy, child endangerment by driving under the influence and furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor. She is accused of driving the ATV and of leaving the scene.

The preliminary hearing for all three defendants is set for May 31.
