CASC, Health & Wellness Center Form Partnership

Signing an agreement for health care services are, seated, CASC President Garry M. Ivey and SHWC Chief Operating Officer Brooke Lattimore.  Standing left to right are CASC VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Jason Morrison, CASC President-elect Jay Falkner, SHWC Director of Nursing Roxanne Brewer, SHWC Patient Care Manager Randee Dix, and CASC Associate VP for Student Life Randy Graves.

Carl Albert State College (CASC) has partnered with area Health & Wellness Centers (SHWC) to assist students and employees of CASC with primary care health services and holistic health prevention measures.

Through the partnership Stigler Health & Wellness Center (SHWC), Poteau Health & Wellness Center, and Sallisaw Health & Wellness Center will all provide treatment of minor illness, injuries, and behavioral health services. Students and employees using the services will be responsible for providing proof of Medicaid or private insurance, and these programs will be billed directly on behalf of the student/employee. For those seeking care without insurance, they will apply for the sliding fee scale, and SHWC will directly bill the patient for only the minimum office visit fee of $20.

Randy Graves, CASC Associate Vice President for Student Life, stated, “This service will especially be helpful to our students without health care coverage.”

In addition to office visits, other services offered will include behavioral health office visits, lab services, x-ray/EKG services, campus flu shot clinics, and on-campus team physicals.

Graves continued, “Appointments will be made for students and employees through the CASC Student Life office, and we will be providing information on how to use these services to all our students and employees at Carl Albert.”

Brooke Lattimore, SHWC Chief Operating Officer, said, “The mission of the Health & Wellness Center is to provide quality care for all area patients and we are pleased to add the students, faculty, and staff of Carl Albert State College to our patient base with this valued partnership.”
