Four Carl Albert State College students were honored at the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges Student Recognition Ceremony on March 28, 2017 at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
CASC students named to the All-Oklahoma Academic Team were Luca Marinoni of Merate, Italy; Samantha Wolf of Idabel, Oklahoma; and representing the CASC Sallisaw campus was Jimmy Bell from Fort Smith, Arkansas.
CASC student Emily Geer of Keota, Oklahoma was a recipient of the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges (OACC) Tuition Waiver Award.
Marinoni is a biological sciences major with a career goal to become a medical doctor. Wolf is an English/English Education major and plans on becoming an attorney or education administrator. Bell is a sociology/psychology major and plans to go into politics. Geer is a nursing major and plans to become a nurse practitioner.
The All-Oklahoma Academic Team program recognizes outstanding two-year college students nominated by their college president. Students must be eligible to graduate in 2016-2017 and have at least a 3.5 GPA. Oklahoma is one of 35 states participating in the State Academic Team Program. The state programs are a division of the Academic All-American Team for Community, Technical and Junior College Students, an international program sponsored annually by Phi Theta Kappa, USA TODAY and the OACC.
The Tuition Waiver Award is $1000, with $500 being for each of two semesters. This recipient is also selected by the College President.
