Braggs Precinct Closed for School Election

Cindy Osborn, Sequoyah County Election Board secretary, announced this week that Braggs School District I-46 has elected to close precincts 201, 203, 208, 209, and 210 for the Feb. 10 school election. State law allows an affected county district to close a precinct if it is not entirely within the county's district and if there are fewer than 100 registered voters in that part of the precinct that is located in the district. There are about six total registered voters in all combined Sequoyah County Braggs School District precincts. Voters who are registered in these precincts will receive an application for an absentee ballot from the county election board. They can fill out, sign and return the application to the election board to have a ballot mailed to them. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the election board no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 4 for this election. Voters who receive absentee ballots by mail must return the voted ballot to the election board by mail. Absentee ballots must be in the election board's hands by 7 p.m. on election day to be counted. These voters may vote by absentee at the election board office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 6. Any registered voter who lives in these precincts who believes that he or she may reside in the Braggs School District should contact the election board office at 110 E. Creek in Sallisaw, or call 918-775-2614.
