Bennett Sworn into Office

State Rep. John Bennett, Republican from Sallisaw, took his oath of office Nov. 18 in the Oklahoma House Chamber in the state capitol, while his wife, Nicole, and sons, Jonathan, 9, and Nicholas, 7, looked on. Bennett's daughter, Taylor, 17, was unable to attend. Bennett will be joined by 101 members in the 55th Oklahoma Legislature, including 22 new members. The ceremony was performed by Oklahoma Chief Justice-elect John Reif. The Oklahoma House of Representatives will convene on Jan. 6 for Organizational Day and will formally elect House leadership. The bill filing deadline for the 2015 Session will be at 4 p.m. Jan. 22. The regular session will reconvene on Feb. 2.
