Women Sought for Writing Bogus Checks


Bogus checks written to numerous stores have led to charges being filed against two area women.

Melissa Ann Byers, 47, of Salllisaw was charged with felony value -- false pretenses/bogus check/con game, which is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000, imprisonment for up to 10 years or both, as well as restitution. 

The 10 checks totaled $3,691.76 and were written at several stores in Sallisaw, Roland and even Maumelle, Ark., near Little Rock.

Records show that Tracy Lynn Campbell, also known as Reinschmiedt, 47, of Vian was charged with felony value -- two or more bogus checks together, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000 or both, plus restitution.

Reinschmiedt allegedly wrote 20 bogus checks totaling $6,724.72, which she is responsible for paying back.
