County Commissioners Tackle Several Issues

The Sequoyah County Board of Commissioners approved several items at its weekly meeting Monday.

Commissioners unanimously approved the Sequoyah County Health Department’s contract with Purple Wave to auction off extraneous office equipment. The panel also approved a lease-purchase agreement for a brush truck for the Brent Fire Department.

The panel also approved, pending the district attorney’s approval, two agenda items regarding a payment processing agreement by and between the Sequoyah County clerk and the Forte company, as well as a 2020 REAP contract acceptance for Evening Shade Road in District 2.

In other business, the commissioners approved the construction of a 30’ x 50’ building for the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department. That building will be behind the 911 office at 106 E. Creek Ave. They also voted to allow the acceptance of a grant from the Office of Emergency Management to Sequoyah County 911.

In addition, commissioners approved two agenda items for the county assessor’s office, an updated disaster recovery plan and the transfer of funds from the assessor’s visual inspection account to the assessor’s maintenance and operations account.
