Catholic Charities’ Coat, Blanket Drive Under Way

Catholic Charities is now accepting donations for its annual coat and blanket drive.

New or gently used coats, as well as gloves, blankets, scarves and hats are welcome and may be dropped off at the agency, 409 N. Adams St., in Sallisaw.

Organizers ask that any donations be brought inside the agency rather than leaving them in the donation box whenever possible. Catholic Charities is open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each weekday.

Those bringing donations can receive a tax-exempt statement for their 2019 taxes, Catholic Charities coordinator Becky Ritchie said Tuesday.

“We accept anything that will keep people warm,” Ritchie said. The donated winter gear will go to all people in need in Sequoyah County, she added, and recipients can get up to two coats per person per year.
