Benefit Barbecue Dinner Set For Dec. 6

The Sallisaw Kindness Krew has scheduled its annual barbecue dinner fundraiser for Friday, Dec. 6, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the city’s Civic Center.

The menu will include your choice of a pulled pork or bologna sandwich, beans, chips, homemade dessert and water. The meal will be provided by Black Diamond BBQ.

Meals will be $10 each and can be served as dine-in or carry-out. Meals will also be available for delivery within city limits. Orders for delivery must be made by 4 p.m. Dec. 6 by calling (918) 605-4351 or (918) 208-4108. Carry-out meals will be available at a drive-up location on Elm Street outside the Sallisaw Civic Center.

All proceeds from the meal will go toward Northeastern Health System Sequoyah.

“We want to encourage people to come out and support us,” the group’s president, Judy Martens, said Thursday. “Without donations we won’t be able to continue some of our programs,” such as working to improve areas of the hospital, such as the mammography room and more. “We also helped with the Pastor’s Fellowship back-to-school giveaway and we provided gifts for the Pastor’s Fellowship’s Angel Tree,” she noted.

The Kindness Krew is a nonprofit organization whose original mission was to support the hospital and its staff. The group expanded its efforts in recent years to help people throughout the community. Wherever they are needed, Martens said, her organization will do whatever it can to help out.
