A 30-year-old man from Howe was charged Dec. 31 in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw with a felony count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Bryan Shane Bebermeyer was also charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer.
According to the arresting police officer’s report, Sallisaw police were sent on the evening of Dec.27 to a Village West apartment on a report of child abuse. Bebermeyer was found at the apartment and allegedly gave investigators an incorrect name. The officers were given permission to search the apartment and reported finding a plastic bag containing a green leaf substance. They also found a used syringe and a plastic bag containing a white substance. Bebermeyer told the officers the objects belonged to him and he was arrested.
Bebermeyer was not arrested on any child abuse allegations.
The officers reported the woman who lived in the apartment would face child abuse charges and her four children were placed in the custody of a relative.
Bebermeyer was released on a $6,000 bond, and his case is on a Feb. 3 disposition docket in district court.
